1 Corinthians 13:4-7 (ESV)
Love is patient and kind; love does not envy or boast; it is not arrogant or rude. It does not insist on its own way; it is not irritable or resentful; it does not rejoice at wrongdoing, but rejoices with the truth. Love bears all things, believes all things, hopes all things, endures all things.
Did you know that love, the emotion, is just a side effect of real love? What do I mean by that? Love, as God refers to it, is not a feeling. It is not an emotion. It is not the pitter patter of your heart as you look on a beautiful face. Love is a verb. Love is a choice. Love is action. Look at the verse above. All of the things that God says that love is... notice something? They are all actions! Not one of them is a feeling. They are a choice, a commitment, an action. Love is a verb.
If we say we love someone then we are called to do something about it. If you are committed to love someone then you have to do something about it. Even if you don't "feel" the love. Love (the emotion) is a byproduct of love the verb. Love with your actions. Choose to love. Then you will feel the love. God loves us through action. How are you loving people today?
