Proverbs 1:8-9
Listen, my son, to your father's instruction and do not forsake your mother's teaching.
They are a garland to grace your head and a chain to adorn your neck.
Happy Mother's Day! (yesterday here in Korea)
Mom's can be such an amazing influence in our lives! My Mom was the one in the family that taught me how to sing, how to stay focused on the task at hand, how to prepare for things to come, to love unconditionally. My wife, the mother of my four children, still teaches me lessons every day in how to love and care for people, how to prioritize people over everything else, and how to live a life that pleases God. Mom's can be something really special! But, it seems like I always here about the flaws of mothers, how they have damaged their children, wronged them, or set them up for failure. I can only say, that although their calling from God is a great one, they are still people too. They are going to make mistakes and those mistakes are going to play out in the lives of their children. However, that doesn't mean that they are to be disrespected and ignored. Can you imagine if everyone treated everyone else like that?
Today is a day that we focus in on the great things that our mom's taught us. Give them the honor that is due them for bringing us into their lives. Into our lives. Focus in on the great parts of who that woman is to you today and try to forgive any hurts or harms that may have been done. Call your momma. Let her know you love her.
