Romans 14:1
As for the one who is weak in faith, welcome him, but not to quarrel over opinions.

Tis the season for quarreling over opinions. I don't want anyone to think I am downplaying the role of politics in America or the importance of the office of the President of the United States of America but, I absolutely despise voting years. It brings out the worst in us. It should bring out the best. Instead of coming together to select the best of us to lead, we separate along long entrenched lines of battle to select the lesser of two evils. (That's not a commentary on this election in particular). What's worse than political season in America though? A room full of supposed "theologians" or Church leadership in a room discussing matters of faith and the Scriptures. Talk about verbal UFC!

When I was a youth counselor at a summer camp I got to work with my best friend, Jesse, every day. I loved it and that experience helped to form me into the man I am today. We hung out at camp, at home, in our band. We were always together. But, one afternoon as we were driving back to camp we got into a discussion about which translation of the Bible we preferred. We both had our arguments and supporting facts but, by the time we got to camp we were practically shouting at each other. We didn't talk for the entire rotation of campers that week. Over which translation of the Bible we preferred! How stupid. How absolutely idiotic. I lost out on time I could have been having fun with my best friend over an opinion. When we split hairs eventually we start cutting into the skull.

Do you have an opinion that is costing you relationship? Stop. People are more important that opinions. Ask them to forgive you and do not lose another minute over something that will ultimately pass away. Treasure what is true.
